For years, I’ve been thinking about creating a cycle of pieces whose scores would function like the map of a city.

In this setup, performers are free to choose their own paths, and the outcome of their choices leaves behind a unique and unpredictable sonic trace—a piece that sounds different with every performance.

That’s how Mobiles was born: a choral work inspired by the “moving sculptures” of Alexander Calder (who has also inspired many other composers over the past decades).
