about

Henrique Cantalogo is a Brazilian composer, improviser, and pianist.

His work explores the boundaries between composition and improvisation, with a particular interest in creating open forms and fostering collective, non-hierarchical musical situations. Deeply inspired by Brazilian culture and popular music, he develops a body of work that is sensitive to contemporary issues and enriched by the dialogue between music and other art forms, particularly theater.

As a composer, he has collaborated with ensembles such as Les Cris de Paris, Ensemble L’Itinéraire, the Maitrise Populaire de l’Opéra-Comique, Dissolution Ensemble, CRÉA d’Aulnay-sous-Bois, Grupo Obra Aberta, Ensemble Romeiral, Duo Passerelles, among others.

A specialist in prepared piano, he is continually seeking new sounds and techniques, aiming to de-territorialize this iconic instrument of Western classical music through a personal and artisanal approach.
