CHANTS LIBRES

For three choirs

Comissioned by Les Cris de Paris | Geoffroy Jourdain with the support of the Bettencourt Schueller Fondation

Premiered by Le Chœur du CRÉA, La Maîtrise Populaire de l’Opéra-Comique, and Les Cris de Paris on June 29, 2024, at Fondation Fiminco (France).

Chants Libres: an a cappella piece for three choirs, placing the audience at the heart of the sound—close to the voices—for an immersive experience in sound and polyphony...

A work written specifically for each of these three very different groups, taking on the challenge of composing music that brings together singers of various ages, backgrounds, and experiences—a meeting point of diversity...

A piece where singing, movement, and spatial staging come together to shape a musical dramaturgy that feels more relevant than ever, structured in five mouvements:

I. Tecendo a manhã    II. Paysage     III. What is the word?

IV. Chants Libres    V. Lettre au Futur

A choral journey that sees in collective singing a powerful tool for connection, sharing, and enchantment.
